What's going on with FIFA

I've read a couple of stories on the trouble brewing between Portugal and FIFA, but none have really spelled out the details of the problem. Can anyone here shed more light on this? What does too much autonomy really mean?

It has something to do with the government and the league, as in the government is to close to the league. FIFA demands that each league be 100% independant, no govn't intervention.

I thought that was the case in Greece and Poland, but in Portugal the league is supposedly too independant...whatever that means. Futebol journalism absolutely sucks in Portugal.

Serie A is one of the most corrupt leagues, yet they don't get a public warning. All They're clubs are in dept, there's violence in the stands, the owners of Parma - Parmalat swindled more than 8 billion dollars ...not to mention the fact that the entire gov't is corrupt. Yet no warning for them, just the minnows of Poland and Greece, throw in upperend league to send a message.
