Liedson

As Marco just told me off line....this is big news...

http://www.maisfutebol.iol.pt/notic...262&div_id=1457

Quote:

«Nunca pensei em naturalizar-me.

Wow - that is significant. While I think Nuno should have gotten more PT at the WC, but he's mot likely going to be a little to old to start at Euro 2008.

Liedson would be a perfect solution (although I still like my idea of having Quaresma as a striker).

Liedson is only a few months younger than Nuno, but, like I was saying to Marco, I think his physique is of a type that allow him to be competitive for at least 3 or 4 more years. Why oh why didn't he feel this way earlier?

Liedson is a good striker in the liga, and is an obvious candidate for the selecao. But let's not get carried away. I've seen him struggle in Europe with SCP. At the end of the day, he's a Brazilian who is about as tall as my Tias Marias. I don't know if we can say that he would have been the difference in the world cup.

If he's down with being a band-aid, I'm down with it too.

In regards to Queresma: I was talking to my bro this weekend. His friend Joe's family are Portistas who have connections with the club. Anyways, from what they say, Queresma is a kook. They said he is given his own hotel room on the road because he's pretty much unpossible to live with- Think Led Zeppelin during their '75 tour of North America. If true, makes me more suspect on the eventual "Queresma on the Selecao" era.

If he failed in Europe I think it was more due to the rest of the team. His performance, and work rate, has been consistent.

I think Liedson is one of the more unrecognized strikers out there. His first year at Sporting he was written off, I guess because of his appearance. If one of the big teams had scooped him, he'd be a household name. Certainly Brazil would've been better served by him than either El Phenom or Adriano.

one's fat, slow and out of shape, the other has been out of form for most of the year. Liedson would've out worked both of them put together. If Brazil had tinkered with the formation to free Ronaldinho up better, they'd have been clickin.

I would welcome Liedson with open arms. Derlei would be another option.

It's no secret we need someone else other than Nuno. Both Hugo Almeida and Joao Tomas are uproven for us, I can't think of anyone else.

Quaresma being impossible to bunk with doesn't surprise me given what I've heard about him.

A good liar too, the motherfucker - insisted the sandwich was his, despite it being on a papo seco. Now, what the hell is a redneck motherfucker doing with a presunto on a papo seco? True, I don't remember bringing lunch today, but that doesn't answer the question of where that fecker got the papo seco and the presunto... I headbutted the fucker right on the lip!

Nani to me is more of a midfielder than a pure goal scorer. I believe he knocked in 5 or 6 goals last season, not bad considering he comes on only when Carlos Martins burns out in the 60th minute. Which is often.
