Good guys win.....7-6 on penalties after 2-2 regulation and 3-3 after overtime thanks to a Simao sizzler.... :grin:
Somebody explain to me what the hell was the Bruno Aguiar for Fyssas substitution.
Mantorras should have come in for Giovanni or Nuno, not Carlitos. We also should have seen Roger come in once Viana was expelled.
Otherwise, the team came into the game with attitude and prepared. Something we haven't seen this squad do in a big game until now.

That's a simple answer. Fyssas came on to play left D, Dos Santos played left wing (and well) and Simao organizer. Carlitos played well (almost scoring) and Roger isn't going to play till the transfer window is closed as they are trying to deal him away a player can't play for 3 teams in 1 season.
Do you guys actually follow Benfica or what? :confused2

To answer this. Bruno Aguiar isn't palying well, but Mantorras can't play more than 25 min a game and Karadas was injured and didn't play. Nuno Assis wasn't registered in time and Roger isn't playing till the transfer window is closed. Who else does that leave? Paulo Almeida who is playing worse than Aguiar. What they should have done was put in a youngster off the B team and let him have a crack at it.
Tiago didn't want to be here therefor he is not missed and th $$$ we received for him went to good use I'm sure.

It was beautifull to see the Sporting fans jumping for joy after Paito's (nice) goal, like they had won the Champions League, and then the look on their faces when their own product SIMAO let go a rocket from downtown Lisbon and then when the penalty was missed......priceless!

This coach is the most successfull in the world he's looked good and bad. The attitude of the players refects the bad don't you think? (Beira Mar game) They haven't been playing up to potential.

Could be alot better, like in first place when you compare us to the rest of the teams. Good news for us is that Sporting and Porto slip every so often as well.
They're inconsistent. That reflects on a coach and his motivation to the players. We go from kicking the shit out of Boavista to losing at home to the bottom dwellers not by 1 but by 2??? What gives?
Look, I'm a diehard and will always bleed Benfica but I'm a realist. Trap's a joke and our management isn't far behind if not ahead of Trap in that department.

Stop gracing this forum with common sense.
According to Tinto and SCP here the offsides rule doesn't apply to Sporting, and rolling up your fist and charlie horsing someone is not a strong enough reason to eject a player, especially considering that Jorge Andrade missed a CL semi just for faking to kick his good buddy Deco.
I think most sportinguistas here learned to watch and play this game via ice hockey.

Training site, should have been paid when they made the deal for a new stadium, not with player's transfer fees.
The Roger move is inexplicable, since they have rarely given the kid to opportunity to play for benfica. They bought him for a lot of moneyand now want to get out from under the contract. They should let him play.

In another 2 years run for president, you seem to have all the answers. You probably thought Luisao sucked when he arrived and didn't play well too. Roger has had 4 coaches, 4! None of them played him. He's a great player but doesn't play defence.

Glad you noticed. Perhaps you can nominate me to run. But in the meanwhile I'm entitled to criticize this pathetic management team.
Don't know why you're throwing half baked assumptions about me, and my feelings on Luisao, but you couldn't be further from the truth. I didn't like resigning Argel only to release him for free. WHy sign him to begin with when you have quality Central defenders at a much cheaper price. I'll tell you what I move I hated though since you're into bad assumptions.THe Zahovic for Marchena has to be one of the worse moves ever!
Roger has had 3 coaches not play him. Jesualdo, Toni, and Camacho. Trap doesn't count cause he has publicly stated that he wants him to play, only to be shot down by the management team who wants to sell him for a lower price than they bought him. All 4 insisted on playing Zahovic! They were all wrong on ZZ!
