I hope he recalls Wade Barrett. He's been off the RADAR screen for too long, and may deserve another look, IMHO.

a strange roster

according to soccer america ... I agree that this list is missing something, just don't know what. I can't see Suarez, Califf, Albright, Martino and Cunningham making the cut. IMHO, they don't have the stuff to play international ball.

I got it, this team may bee "too young", too new for my old school taste.
Good luck USA.

GOALKEEPERS -- Jon Busch (Columbus), Joe Cannon (Colorado), Matt Reis (New England), Kasey Keller (Tottenham).

DEFENDERS -- Ryan Suarez (Los Angeles), Jonathan Spector (Manchester United), Dan Califf (Los Angeles), Chris Albright (Los Angeles), Oguchi Oneywu (Standard Liege).

MIDFIELDERS -- Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado), Bobby Convey (Reading), Brian Mullan (San Jose), Clint Dempsey (New England), Steve Ralston (New England), Ramiro Corrales (San Jose), Ricardo Clark (MetroStars), Landon Donovan (San Jose), Kyle Martino (Columbus).

WTF?! No Eskandarian?

He will get his chance. But it will be tough for him, though-->Casey, E.J. Buddle , Ching , wolff. He will have to fight for a spot. Although I do think Eski is better than Wolff and Ching.

The general belief is that if DC had not made the final Eski would have been called in. But since DC was in the final, Eski couldn't join the rest of the national squad for training so he was left off.

Oh alright, this guy has alot of potential, hopefully they don't let it go to waste.

After 2006 or around it you will see the new generation coming along

Fowards: Conor Casey(he is doing fine in the bundesliga and his game is improving) Buddle , Eddie Johnson , Alecko(?) , Watson( 19 yrs old , he has STAR potential) , Robbie( what potential 17 yrs old ) , Kanu , ect

Leftwings: Beasley , Mapp , Alvarez , Ashe , Jimenez( 16-17 yr old ,this kid has it all)

RightWings: Dax McCarty, Sokota , Mullan(?) , Quaranta , ect( he still has potential , it took E.J. 3 yrs to develop , so he has a chance still)

D-Mid: Clark , Demp, Szetela , Stackhouse , ect

10#: Donovon , Gaven , Capano , Freddy , ect

Defenders: Buciaraga , Bocanegra , Whitbread , Danny , Gooch , Marshall , Cherundolo , Russell , Spector , ect

Goaltenders: Howard( he has ways to go) , Cronin(he has the stuff) , Kiki(talented , 16 yrs old, Milan offered him a contract)

The national team is getting better . Better talented players and the depth will also get better in time.

I mean Mcbride , I think Casey , Buddle and E.J. will be better than him. I mean the depth and quality will be very good if everything goes to plan. I mean E.J.-I dont think the US has ever had anybody with that kind of pace in front of goal.

And defenders , they will be so many quality defenders .The US coach will salivate over this. Gooch , and Marshall will play for big teams 1 day!

1-1 a boring game. Slipping , a bunch of fouls , the ref was a joke

The US midfield sucked. Donovon was a no show and Raltson and corrales--please! :ass2: :yuck:

Gooch played good . Made a bone head hand ball , but overall a good game for him and it was his 1st start.

Mastro was solid. Had a good assist

Eddie Johnson is a budding star. He is good!

McBride runs like an old man! Retire

Dempsey looked good. The US midfield was better when he came him. He brings alot of bite!

Spector made some silky moves.A nice looking youngster

Albright was solid defensively , but did not do much offensively.

Final 1-1. A fair result, and it means that Jamaica is out.

Corrales was the weakest link on our side. He bever looked comfortable before being subbed out. Gooch made a couple of mistakes, one of which resulted in letting his opponent run past him and resulted in a subsequent PK.

Johnson continued to impress. Nice to finally see Spector and Dempsey on the field.

Nothing special on our parts but it was good to see some of the younger generation of players get their shot at playing. I couldn't believe the way Jamaica played...up a man and needing a win to advance they just about refused to attack. 1-1 is the same as a loss, so why not push the ball up and attack?

Eddie Johnson is a nice player...can't wait to see what he can do in the future. He just has a knack of scoring...and that ref, where did they find this guy?

Only watched the first half; sounds like I didn't miss too much in the second half.

Johnson impressed me the most. He was posting up, collecting the ball and distributing it very well. Hadn't seen him do that before.

It is going to be fascinating to see how Arena's team shapes up over the next year. He has many, many options. Beyond a few give-me's (e.g. Donovan, Beasley, Bocanegra), the field seems wide open.

I really like that Spector kid. He obviously has great ball handling skills since he plays for Manchester United, and he fills in nicely at left back, a position that is traditionally weak for our NT.

Gibbs and Bocanegra(who also can play at left back) will handle our central defense for many years to come, with Gooch developing as backup. At right back, Cherundolo is getting better each year at Hanover. His injury history, however, does worry me some.

A slew of young, talented players crowd our midfield. Obviously, Donovan and Beasley will be the mainstay. Unfortunately, I still have not seen anyone who can control the tempo like Reyna can. Besides, we need someone who can fire from 20-30 meters away with consistent accuracy. Adu is at least 3 to 4 years away before he can be considered on the same level as Donovan and Beasley.

Up front, our old guards such as McBride, Wolff and Mathis will need to move over for the young guns come 2006. With Johnson, Buddle, Casey, Eski and Ching, we will have to see who can out perform the rest and become a must-start.

... Corrales was the weakest link on our side.

Arena is high on this kid, but I can't see why from that performance last night, irrespective of the penalty.

They were playing route-one ball for most of the night, but I think the elements had more to do with that. They tried to use the same stratergy that Panama used against them in Panama City, long balls and knock ons. It worked for the most part because they had plenty of chances, Johnson alone could have scored a hat trick last night, though 5 goals in 151 minutes is not too shabby.

Rawlston played great
Mastroeni was good
Gooch was OK; made two mistakes
Sanneh was great
Gibbs was OK
Donovan disapeared again, but they weren't playing through him.

Every one else did their jobs last night.

amaicas loss opens up teh qualifying process. T&T will now have hope that they can at least make it to the playoffs, but The big 3 are still there and Guatemala looks solid. It should be an interesting Hexagonal.

As I predicted ...

1. Mexico
2. Costa Rica
3. USA
4. Trinidad
5. Guatemala
6. Panama

GO USA.

OSF is right , need someone to control the tempo and this will be Gaven . I saw him do it for the youth teams and one time against Argentina. Or Capano, Clark(he can hit those long bombs) , Jay Danny(he has a rocket too), and ! I still think Gooch is going to better than Boco and Gibbs? This was his 1st game as a starter. He made 2 bad mistakes-the 2 mistakes aside he looked good , growin pains. Gibbs debut wasnt that good , but settled down afterwards.

Eddie J.( will train w/ ManU and then to PSV. I hope he goes to PSV and reunite with Beasley! :rock3: ) is the real deal , he was a dominant youth player(once he scored 4 against Spain) , the potential was always there . Now he is begining to show it. And he is a very smart player to boot. The US version of Heny Theirry?

And dont forget about Marshall!

Jose Burciaga , Spector or Danny Karbyisoon(Arsenal) are my future Left backs , Danny is similar to Ashley Cole. Simak (Arsenal), Russell and Cherundolo will fight for that right back position!

leftwings , it is going to be loaded there and dont forget about 19 yrs old Carlos Elliot , he is am American/Brazilian and he might go to Perguea(spelling) next yr(Italy)

Foward--Too much : Casey, E.J. , Casey , Demp , Alecko , Watson , Kanu , Robbie , ect(he might join Bayern next yr)?

I love Dempsey(he might go to Feyenoord?) , he gives 110% effort and his intensity-he looks like a serial killer when he plays(those crazy eyes :dazed: ) !You need those crazy $ss fockers in your starting 11!

Yeah, Johnny, I love watching Dempsey play. He's so intense that he looks funny. With his hair flying and eyes bulging, as if he's gonna break someone's legs, he's got to be intimidating! :trooper:
