What do you think about this?If we are going to play 4-2-3-1 i think the players should be:
----------Butina---------

Srna--Tudor--R.Kovač--Šerić

-----J.Leko---N.Kovač------

-Kranjčar--I.Leko--Da Silva(or Babić)

-----------Pršo-----------

i think this 4-2-3-1 is the stupidest thing ive ever heard...were playing well yet were goin to be changing the formation..yes we played horribly against bulgaria but that wasnt the formation that was letting us down..it was poor coaching decisions (i.e. incorrect substitutions) and lack of intensity...this involves playing babic defensively even though hes been playing amazingly for us on the left wing...klasnic on the bench even though hes pumped in 5 goals in the last 2 CL games...da silva coming in and starting???????? wtf...this is horrible news IMO

i agree with HRV123. stupid decision, the formation we've used has been solid. why change a good thing? i don't think prso has enough ability to be the lone striker up front. i like klasnic and prso up front a whole lot better then benching klasnic who is tearing it up in CL play just to experiment some more midfielders. poor decision

NOW he figures out you can't play 3-5-2 against good teams anymore..

4-2-3-1 is a super formation. Just as long as the team plays it correctly because it can also be a disaster.

ahhh I liked the 3-4-1-2, we just couldn't find the right player for the position behind the striker.

I personally think this is CRAP! :wth:

Prso by himself up front when Klasnic is killing it in the Champions League and Bundesliga??? I love the 3-5-2 formation and given enough time and correct players in that system(which could be played 3-2-3-2 or 3-4-1-2 or whatever you want it to look like) would be perfect for the personel that we have. This move is total copy-cat tactics by looking at other stupid coaches in Europe who used this stale style. Greece using it is ok because they might not have the talent up front but we do we are actually bursting at the seems up front(Prso-Klasnic-Balaban-Olic-Bjelanovic-Sokota etc...) so this decision only makes me thing that Cico is trying to somehow benefit his son more so he is not the only one having to create behind the strikers. Now he will have 3 guys doing that(Kranjcar-Srna????-Da Silva???). Why doesn't he try playing the players in proper positions? Italy did this crap formation this Euro and they looked slow and divided. Only Portugal did this formation to some success because they had Deco-Figo-Rui Costa and Ronaldo as the creative mids behind the useless Pauleta. Also why break up Simunic-Kovac and Tudor in teh back? they were killer so far together and looked strong esspecially against Ibrahimovic-Larrsson who are very dangerous. Tudor didnt play against Bulgaria and R.Kovac got injured and only then did they outplay our back line which consisted of a midfielder(Vranjes) and Tokic and Simunic. THIS IS STUPID

i dont see why this is such a bad move....many teams play this kind of formation and i guess u could say its the "in" formation these days

we have to remember that formations shouldnt be built around single players (klasnic) but should be made to bring out the best in the team...and until we have given this a chance we cannot tell which is better

another thing is that even though we made a great start to the qualifiers we were by no means overly impressive or dominant in any of the games...ill admit i onlywatched the hungary game, but from what i heard we were the weaker side against sweden and bulgaria

so even though we got the results in our first three games, it doesnt mean that we shouldnt continue to strive for an improvement in our game

If it ain't broke don't fix it...we've done just fine using the formation we have been using thus far under Cico. As someone mentioned, it wasn't the formation that blew the game against Bulgaria rather, it was us sitting on a lead thinking the game was finished after 40 minutes and it was Cico substitutions.

We have a guy like Klasnic who is now starting to get into form and I'm sure a breakout game with the NT is coming.

On the other hand, I think that is exactly what friendlies are for..to try out new players and experiement with a new formation and that is what Cico seems he's going to do in the Ireland friendly.

It was never fixed to be broken.

The second half against Bulgaria showed exactly why we need to change. The Bulgarian players doubled up on the sides with Srna and Babic trying to defend two players and struggling to get out of our half.

I say give it a go and if it doesn't work against ireland or the other friendlies then stick to the tried 3-5-2.

btw...this formation can just as easily become a 4-3-3.

I THINK THIS IS A GREAT FORMATION! 4-2-3-1

I think Kranjcar is trying to make the best outta what we have. We have plenty of Defencemen and forwards so this formation is a good test for our players realisticly and it is a dangerous formation if its tactically sound!

------------------BUTINA-------------------
--------------------------------------------
-------------TUDOR----SIMUNIC------------
--R.KOVAC---------------------------BABIC-
-----------J.VRANJES-----N.KOVAC----------
--------------------------------------------
----SRNA---------KRANJCAR-------DA SILVA-
--------------------------------------------
--------------------PRSO-------------------

Tactikly it is smart for Kranjcar to make this formation to see what we can do, i dont think he threw the other out the door(3-5-2). The downside to this is that we lose Klasnic in attack! But this looks more like a defesive line-up that we can use if we are in the lead and still want to be dangerous that is what Kranjcar is trying this out. This way he wont make the same mistake as he did in the 2-0 lead against Bulgaria. Kranjcar is smart he is finding our way..............

3-5-2 is the way to go in my books. Prso does not have the speed and agility to tackle the lone striker position. Our strikers create well together, when they are in a formation that puts them together eg. 3-5-2. Cant wait to see Klasnic in form playing with an in form prso.

I think if you wanted to try something wild (Baric style) I would go with da silva forward just for a half in a friendly to see what happens. Put Prso in center mid, Da silva striking and put Kranjcar on the wing. Like i said if you want to try something a little Otto-ish :zany: :zany: :zany: :zany: :zany:

Vranjes and Niko Kovac in the middle still doesn't solve our problems which is BALL control and creativity from the middle of the park. 1 of them out there in the starting 11 is great but both of them against stronger teams means we can only depend on the wings for some kind of attacking. Niether of them can take on a player one on one nor do they have the vision to see the whole field and make great passes nor can they dribble with the ball so hence they will always rush to make a pass or because they are rushing(since they dont see the field that well) they will just get rid of the ball aimlessly thus conceding in us giving away possession. Both are good ball winners and average passers and Niko has a big heart but they both can't play in the center of the park if we want more control of the game to start from there. PUT JERKO LEKO BACK IN THERE! and leave everything else the way it has been.

They are the ones that gave me the idea.:grin2:

Yeah you cannot have Vranjes and Kovac in the middle. One of those players have to distribute the ball and make runs to support the forwards. Jerko Leko or Ivan leko should take the place of Vranjes..

Right now there is absolutely no chance you can leave Klasnic out of the croatian squad, so maybe you can put Prso in the attacking mid part and Klasnic the lone striker or the other way around.
