Deco was very good in the first half but was a little bit lost when he was told to go play on the left. Not a very good move.

Pauleta needs to be able to hold the ball, trap the ball and score off of half chances.

...The Greeks won. I left the bar and went out on to the street. I dropped to my knees and cupped my face in my hands. The tears flowed out with no end in sight. A group of greeks came by and asked if I was ok. I looked up, stood up...congradulated and hugged all of them. I stood around in the Portuguese area for a little while before going for a walk alone.

I left the POrtuguese area and walked all the way to the Greek community. I carried my flag in my pant leg (big flag) and removed my shirt and wrapped it around my arm in a knot. I walked up Parc street (the main greek street in Montreal) clapping and congradulating all the greeks. I posed and took pictures with several of them. My girlfriends parents drove by and saw a guy with no shirt, red eyes from all the tears.

The draw doesn't mean shit, cause it won't change shit. We're going to win all our home games (18 points). Plus we've already won one and drew one on the road (4 points). That leaves us with 4 road games, Im fairly certain we'll win two of those and tie one (Im calling for a loss in Slovakia). So that'll make is 9-2-1, 29 points. That should be good enough for first, or possibly best runner up. (Our results against the 7th and 6th place teams are not factored into the best runner up equation).

Bottom line is, and Im shocked that you guys didn't see this, is that things are never smooth for Portugal. We're always taught a lesson in qualifying. Remember the 1-1 home draw against Eire? No one played well, except for my dawg Ribeiro and Costinha. The only ones who defended like they were supposed to, and Ribeiro even managed put more crosses like he was supposed to, than Simao and Ronaldo put together only for Postiga and Pauleta to trip themselves on.

All others, but especially, Ferreira, Carvalho, Andrade and of course Ricardo sucked worse than a team of lame Sunday morning players.



Portugal on their worst day should be able to beat these guys on their best day, if they showed the slightest determination, which they didn't.

As for Baia's blunders at the WC. None were as bad as Ricardo's on Saturday. Baia had a goal deflected in, the defence let him down repeatedly, and against S. Korea they were a man down for most of the time (I don't know if this was true of the time of the goal), and Portugal's defence couldn't hold the S. K wingers. Ricardo's frango was of his making, and his alone. That was clearly a goalie ball, and this mistake cost us dearly, because a draw away to Russia, which would have been a suitable score, if we had won this one, could spell disaster.

Back to the team playing like crap, for God's sake. Only 3 of these guys play pro. The rest are part-timers. I bet one of those guys is telling his construction buddies a hell of a story today.

I disagree, Although this tie was a "vergonha", I don't think we need to jeopardize the future in that way. This is a young team, let them grow together, loses along the way can help form team unity. The problem with our NT and the Portuguese in general is the lack of courage and desire. Those guys were not better than us, but I'll tell you that they wanted that draw a whole lot more than we wanted that win. We only started to run in the last 10 minutes... What the fuck were we doing for the first 80? We were playing at half steam. We should have beaten these guys by 5 or 6 goals, we only managed to one past them. In addition, who the hell applies something to themselves such as Sheffield did with the cream and not even look into what that was. Interesting that you didn't respond to the fact the media and pundits alike have yet to hit hard on the Balco thing with Bonds. Seems to me that they're convinced that Bonds is more ability than any type of steroid can be and those (if they were taken) are hardly the case for why the man has 700+ homers, 500+ steals, and arguably the best player the game's ever seen. If Sosa is juiced, then why isn't he hitting balls and being a threat like Bonds?
