A+, A, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D, F

I give him an A+ so far. Not just for winning two games, but for finally fielding young, talented players. Also an A+ for his positive attitude. Reminds me of Ciro.

Don't know how to start a Poll. So if anyone knows, can someone make one.

I disagree BBB. Had they lost six points and played poorly we'd be all over him and critisizing him for playing his son.

I'll give him an A+. Not just for the points but for fielding a team that is playing very attractive football, and at the same time looks very composed and organized as a defensive unit.

Cheers

Agreed with BBB Cico is doing what we were all begging for Baric to do and he is actually using common sense but thats still doesn't mean we are playing at 100% capacity. We can do better still but so far so good. I will give him a B. The promising thing is that Cico has shown confidence in the players and they have responded and we should only get better the longer he keeps coaching them in this manner and the longer the guys keep playing together with each other(they will develop a sense of familiarity and stability). TAKO JE SAMO NAPRIJED but I think we can only rate everyone at the end(meaning after the World Cup in Germany if we make it.) Otherwise I would have rated Jozic pretty highly too for taking us directly to Japan and S.Korea in 2002 and then we see what happened once we were there. Things are looking positive but far from perfect. I'm a hard marker and pessimist, in a good way lol :frog1:

Through 2 games, I'll give him a solid B+...I don't give A's because then you have nothing else to shoot for and become complacent.

A so far. An A+ would come if we beat the Bulgarians next...

He has exceded everyone's objective of 4 points from the first 2 games. Way to go.

I give him an A+ because of his flawless record so far, his choices of who to put on the pitch, and his exciting (attacking) style of play.

i also like the ratio of older experienced players to young players. N.Kovac brings some experience to our talented midfield (i've been waiting forever to use the word talented when describing the NT's midfield)

A+, A, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D, F

Hey! What about A-, D+ or D-!!!! Sorry, that's my teacher instinct kicking in.

I would give Cico an A so far. I'm pretty stingy with A+s also I think he could have made more daring subs during the Hungary game. Cico has had a great start but you can't really judge a coach on two games. We should have this poll next year or when the qualifiers end.

Other Croatian coaches:
Baric D - he somehow got us to the big dance but didn't bring our dancing shoes with him and demoralized us so much that we just couldn't dance. The man's tactics were based on fear of his opponent and he tried to squish our confidence which has always carried our teams far.

Jozic C- - Most of the above comments apply to Jozic as well but I think he was in a harder position with the aging stars (Suker, Stimac, etc.) hanging on and like someone mentioned before, we really had a poor midfiend. Proki was a great player but by the end he couldn't run 10 meters without looking like he was going into cardiac arrest. Jozic's downfall was that he lost all respect from the players, especially legends like Boksic. The man chewed his fingernails on the bench for Christsake!!!

Blazevic B+ - the ultimate motivator and instigator. He knew how to take advantage of a truly golden generation. Achieved thing no one would have believed he could. However, his tactical acumen was questionable and sometimes played favourites and "unfavourites" too much (Jurcic and Proki respectively). But his insane confidence infected the players and 98 will always be a great year for Croatia. Imagine Jozic or worse Baric coaching that team. We wouldn't have gotten out of our group.

I'm interested in other people's ratings. Try to do it without hyperbole. Qualifying for a major tournament deserves at least a passing grade IMO.

Cico...B+ 2 meaningful games 2 wins....1 friendly 1 win. He's perfect and this with Butina in goal...but, its still 2 games and its still early to give him anything higher. I like his attitude, we haven't seen a positive attitude from a coach since Ciro...I like his attacking style of play and I am happy that he is giving the younger generation of players a shot to prove themselves and so far, they are taking advantage of the situation. I also give him a B+ because as much of a talent as his son is, right now, he hasn't proven anything and has played good in short spurts, this may be a situation where he just can't bring himself not to put junior in the first 11...

Baric..D....we qualified despite the man for Euro. But, as I mentioned in another thread, this is a guy that had a lot of these same players that Cico has right now and refused to play them...I think he was getting Italia 1990 flashbacks and feels that pure defensive soccer is the newest trend.

Jozic....C....I give him credit, he is the only coach we've had where we qualified for a major tournament by actually winning our qualifying group and not having to go through a playoff route to do it. For that he deserves credit. I believe we went through that qualifying by giving up the least amount of goals than any other nation in Europe. But, he lost the respect of his players and that killed him and his tactics in the WC regardless of the fact that we were at a cross roads in terms of players were cowardly. Negative soccer never wins.

Ciro...A...this guy led us to heights that we never though we could ever get to in our wildest dreams and he did it his way. he was a master motivator and he knew the talent that he had and he used it. 3rd place in a WC...a quarterfinal in Euro96 where we lost to the eventual champs Germany in our first ever major tournament as an independant nation. He doesn't get an A+ because we didn't qualify for Euro2000 and yes, he did play favorites and held grudges. The glaring one came in that semi-final game against France where down 2-1 he desides to bring in Silvio Maric rather than Prosinecki when we needed to get a goal.

We won the group for Euro 96 and that was due to Ivic.

Why is he off everyone's list. For me he was a genius. I like Ciro because he let the boys play and it appears Cico is doing the same. It goes against our nature to cover up and cower in a trench.

About the other two. I hereby officially request that those 2 names be banned from this venerable and correct (we've all been calling it) forum forever so as to protect future generations of Croatian soccer fans from the nightmare that was.

Cheers and we won on penalties in the League Cup today...a great week, truly magnificent.

I say B+ as well. 3 Points against the Bulgars next month and we have a chance to be first in our group and then have a team that will have full confidence which could prove to be dangerous to our opposition.
