Half time right now, and Benfica scored two goals before the half. Karadas took a break from his coma to score his first ChupaLiga goal, Petit took a break from fouling to put them up two.
The game will be on tape delay later on RTPI.

Final is 3-2 with goals by karadas(twice) and petit.
Interesting option by trap to start fernandes instead of almeida.
Anyone see the game?

Didn't see the game, but it seems it was all about Azar. Heard Fernandes and Petit played well, and that Rocha and Fyssas played.
Beira-Mar must have been a more important game than Anderlecht.
Very boring first half.
Amazing how much better that defense is with Ricardo Rocha. Goals came on set pieces, one Karadas was too slow to react. The second goal was an unfortunate deflection off Miguel's foot on a long free-kick. But otherwise, Beira Mar never threatened in the run of play - Manuel Fernandes and Petit covered the flanks well for Fyssas and Miguel. Thank pete Trap is going with the kid rather than Paulo Almeida - the kid had a good game.
Overall not a bad way to earn 3 away points to start the season.

I "sort-of" watched the game on tape delay last night...doing work and looking up from time to time. The defense played well, and I liked Fernandes in there for Almeida. Petit played well overall, IMO. The defense was decent overall, etc. What I didn't like was the complete lack of creativity/assertiveness/consistency in the middle attack. On a few occasions, I saw Simao alone in the corner with two or three guys on him; he'd then send in a nice cross without a red shirt in sight. We need the Geovanni as #10 experiment to work or we're in major trouble this season. Nuno Gomes needs to produce when he gets back as well, as I wouldn't be suprised if Karadas scored his only two goals of the season yesterday.
Yep - the Bizzarro Zahovic has gone back to Bizzarro world.

You mean you didn't like his no show offense or the tackle that earned him his yellow? ZZ was riding cutting it close on earning himself a red.
J.P. does the minimum on the right side, we still often recieve our more dangerous attacks from Miguel.
Petit was the M.O.M. in my book, came up big a couple of times when Beira Mar was looking to start a counter.
Karadas has a pulse, it gives me a small bit of hope.
On the whole, the midfield was lost following the third goal. It was only after it became 3-2, and ZZ was replaced with Almeida, did we see things swing around.
Joao Pereira was the only player who actually played worse than Zaho.

What?! No comments on Veiga finally speaking to the media after finally beating a mid level team at best?
The man doesn't say a word after we lost to Porto, and shamelessly lost out on millions on that embarrassing defeat to Anderlecht, but he's fighting back on the heels of this slim victory to Beira Mar.
What has beloved club become?
I guess the press is getting to him. Maybe it'll wear him out and he'll quit in a few months.
