Liedson has scored 52 goals in 81 Liga games for the Lisbon club – including 12 in 20 so far this season. Originally tied to Sporting until June this year, he was delighted to agree the new deal. "I am very happy – Sporting mean everything to me, they have opened so many doors for me," said the 28-year-old Brazilian, who joined Sporting from SC Corinthians Paulista in 2003.

I don't know if Liedson is signing becuase no bigger fish have bitten or he really wants to stay, but at least we have him under rights for another four years. Attitude or not, he is another goal scoring brazilian who has done us some good. And unlike Jardel, he actually can do more than head the ball and dive. :D

Good news, yes. I think he's still hungry for success, and last weekend's Pacos Ferreira game showed it. He worked his ass off, but was heavily marked and fouled for most of the game. Does he want to stay long term? Probably not. He's made no secret of the fact that his dream is to play for Brazil, and he will never be bumping either Ronaldo or Adriano - no matter how much success he achieves in Portugal. He'd need to do the same thing or more, at a big club.
