Even the anthem is a French nationalist tune, but in English is such a watered down version it's a disgrace to the whole country.

It's a drowned out FRENCH nationalist song, that is timid and weak because the words were changed by weak-kneed liberals who don't understand real countries are earned, not given.

Furthermore, 95% of Canadians can't sing it, and perhaps more think the Star Spangled Banner is a much better tune.

We had a great anthem before and it was called God Save the Queen but it was replaced in an era, (the useless 60's) where morons ruled.

The Flag, anthem and Canada you know are nothing more than a liberal ploy to unite the French and English in Canada from the 60's and 70's by destroying each other's culture and making them loyal NOT to Canada (or the Queen) but to the Liberal Party of Canada.

The only thing they've managed to produce is a country where we face major revolts from provinces, cultural backlash against amalgamating the French and English, and a potential break-up of the country that could very possibly lead to war, and of course an identity where 'we don't know what we are, but we know what we're not...' and 95% of the country can't pass a civics course.

I guess the closest American word to it is Cracker. But the connotation of "cake" is not as pejorative. Anyone who can't really identify a culture for themselves other than "Canadian" (whatever that means) would be called a Cake. Cakers, the way I use it, is a bit more derogatory meaning "hard core cake."

People get mad at me when I say that Canadians don't have a culture other than the commercialism and materialism they appropriate from the US but no one has ever convinced me otherwise. Albeit, I do admit we are a very young country and so geographically dispersed that it might be normal to not have a fully developed culture or identity other than using words like "multicultural, tolerant, peaceful..." which, to me, don't give people much to cling to.

A few things i think you have to take into consideration, first the Americans almost always whenever they peacekeep or get involved in a conflict are always in the most dangerous area's.

In Iraq for example their are only US troops in the Sunni triangle. The brits are in the much more peaceful southern part of the country. Even in Bosnia and Kosovo the US had the tough area's to defend. The US was in Srebenica, Gorazde and the border area's between the Serbs and the Cro's and Muslims.
This Germany guy that always comes to vacation in Croatia and stays at my uncle hotel is a COL. When he was in Bosnia he was in Banja Luka, easy assignemnt only Serbs their's no real tension to combat. The US is in the sticky area's.


I think the US troops are extrodinarly well trained my old suitemate in college is an Army Ranger it really is crazy stuff they learn and go through. But from people he knows and talks to including other armies soldiers in the world. He always tells me the Israeli's are probably pound for pound the best military in the world. And that the Checan rebels are the bravest.

Don't say that you aren't when you are. Any soldier who has nothing to fight for is going to be a bad soldier and any military that has no will will lose. The difference between the US and the rest of the world is simple..the guys in the military want to be there since it is an all volunteer army....unlike most of the world where they are conscripts.

You give me any one of these: US, Croatian, and Israeli soldiers, and you'll see 2 sets of soldiers with heart, guts, and a will. All we Croatians need is better weapons...the training is there now in Croatia, thanks to the Americans.

If you're talking about Eagleburger you're right, the man is a prick. This guy fed the rest of the world the lie that the Serb soldier was some invicible warrior and that we Croatians were nothing more that Ustase who shouldn't be recognized until the border situation was settled...ie a Greater Serbia. As for training...I personally know 10 officers in the US Army (still in it and also now out of the military all together) a few Croatian-Americans who helped train the HV....what they said was simple, we had the will but we didn't have the discipline and the regimine a good professional Army should have. Yep...and I believe through Florida as well. But as we know, when the war first started we had absolutly nothing in terms of hard core weapons. Not to mention the problem in Bosna.

We should all be thanking the United States, though the help may have come late, but in the end if it weren't for them to balance the opposition to an independent Hrvatska from France, Britain and Russia who knows what would be going on now.

It always irks me when i go to Croatia and i see so many Hrvati sucking up to other Euro governments? They really try to make themselves look good in for the rest of the Western Europeans? But really other than Germany and Turkey also who else from Western Europe even bothered giving us a hand?

It's always funny to me that the Western Euro's nowadays always seem to say we need them that they bring alot to the table. But during the war they were scared to death of that a small two-bit dictator like Milosevic. I mean really the Americans were the one's who gave us money, gave us weapons, gave us training, and actually gave a damn what happened to us and the Bosnians. When NATO actually bombed the Serbs the US supplied 90% of all the bombs and supplies. And when peacekeeping came around the US had to go to the tough border area's while the french were sleeping in Mostar and Banja Luka. Where their's was more danger from flies. While the rest of Western Europe was too busy rallying everyone in the world to place an arms embargo on us. F**kin a-hole's. The US had to clean up a mess they either didn't care or were too scared to do anyting. Its amazing a continent like Europe couldn't even control a conflict like the one in Croatia.

Yet why do Cro's always flock to Europe for advice, protection and things of that nature when they really never gave a rat's ass about us during the time we needed help the most. I'll never forget when NATO bombed Serbia in 95 and then again in 98 during the Kosovo war. I remember Athens, Brussels, Paris protestors lining the streets at the US embassy. Where was the protest after Vukovar, Srebenica, or during any of the times when outright slaughtered happened. Yet Cro's trust these people, they want their approval. Other than Germany the US and a few other nations Cro's shouldn't bother with most of those Western European countries. Their scum, hypocritical bastards that don't give a rat's ass about Croatia. The US did help and really they didn't have to do this at all. Speaking as an American Croatia Bosnia has very little strategic value to the US. But nonetheless they helped.

I really don't care about 'right' or 'left' politics. As long as there's equal chance given to those who express their views.

Heck, there are certain 'leftwing' views that I aspire to namely, protecting the environment and making sure workers have rights against these bloodsucking corporations, if it's through Unions great, if not then we have to protect workers' rights.

Why the US government is allowing US business to deal with Communist China is insulting to any free-thinking individual out there. They use what amounts to sweat shops and publicly mass-murder their own people, and of course opress countless ethnicities in China.

They accuse Hrvatska of one of these things and send our Generals to the Hague. I'm not saying our bhoys are innocent but at least show some equality.
