I remember the day he died, my parents were up early and heard the news, they told me and my brothers....it was a sad day, my whole family was very sad that day.
A true Croatian legend.

I always remember him coming to the Croatian Church if he wasn't on the road with the Nets. he had this beautiful black BMW and when he came to mass (especially the big masses, you know, Easter, Christmas Eve), he would come in late and stand in the back of the Church so as not to make a scene. The guy was classy and he always had time to talk to people and the kids as well. I remember when he came to the Croatian Picnic grounds in New Jersey and he came there with Willis Reed (a Hall of Famer), and it was unreal. He was also responsible for setting up a scholarship fund through the Nets for Croatian-American kids from New Jersey...and it still goes on to this day. One High School senior gets it each year and I believe they give up to $5,000 for college.

I am glad I got a chance to go visit his grave last summer to pay my respects. What a player he was. He is simply a legend.

my dad had promissed to take me to a nets game the next season, and when i heard the news, i def. shed a tear.
he was the first croatian athlete i admired. also, he played a big part in what would become a 10 year quest to prove to my friends croatia's place in this world through video games, which more or less subsided only recently. :coolro:
anyone remember ea's bulls vs blazers or dream team basketball? (which i believe to be the first time a croatian team was ever in a video game)
happy posting,

After the 92-93 season he was selected to the 3rd team all NBA, Correct me if I am wrong but that means that he was one of the top 15 players in the league for that season, that's very impressive considering that back then you had guys like Jordan, Pippen, Malone and Barkley all playing in their prime. I saw him do something in a game that to this day, I have never ever seen any other player do, including Jordan. It was I believe a playoff game in 92, I think against Clevland, I believe a Net Defender stole the ball, fed it to Petro, who was all alone he got the ball at half court, he had a easy trip to the basket, instead of taking the ball to the hole and getting the easy lay up, he stops at the thee point line and sinks the basket. I thought that was awsome and gutsy, he played the game with heart and passion.

Hey Jure or anyone that knows...
You know that Petrovic jersey you have written about, well is the NETS writing and number and all that printed on the singlet or is it sewn on? I want one thats printed, it looks ten thousand times better then the sewn on jerseys.

Cevapcici, The one that I saw at the NBA store In New York, was the Mitchell and Ness version, and the name and numbers were sewn on.

thanks gasparov, do you know which company does the printed numbers? I think its Champion or Reebok...I know that they dont have Petrovic singlets, but they are the printing jersey companies?
Damnit about the Mitchell and Ness Petrovic jersey....they look so much better printed IMO. Do the authentic NBA singlets have printed or sewn on?THe authentic NBA jersey's arent Mitchell and Ness are they? Like the ones the actual players wear...

I believe Reebok does the printed numbers. I believe the current Authentic NBA JERSEYS ARE MADE BY REEBOK. Try doing a search on Google for NBA JERSEYS. You might be able to find what your looking for, By the way I understand that you bought the Authentic Longsleeve Cro jersey from subside, how do you like it? I was thinking of ordering it as well.

Yeah I remember the day I heard the news...I was stunned....so many great memories of Drazen...especially sinking those last two free throws against the Russians to send us to the gold medal final in '92. There will never be another like him. Talented and classy, a role model for basketball and, especially, for our country.

USA Dream Team basketball(Barcelona 1992) on Sega Genesis was the first game any Croatian National Team side was in. I re-bought the genesis like 4 years ago just for that game and I just got the game from some video game store in New York like last year. It's a great game, but they got the Croatian national anthem wrong, boooo, anyways it's great to play with Petrovic, Kukoc, Radja, Vrankovic, Komazec etc....

Cevapi, the question has already been answered, but, what the hell, the name and number is stiched on. Mitchell and Ness is a store that had gotten the rights from the various sports leagues in making the old school uniforms of a particular team with the names and numbers of certain players. In fact, if you watch and NBA game and they wear the "throwback" uniforms on that particular night, Mitchell and Ness made them...I believe they did the same with the NHL (when there was an NHL..lol).
Here is the website:
http://www.mitchellandness.com/
Also, if you want to get a current NBA uniform go to:
www.nba.com
There should be a link for their online store and you can get authentic jersey's there for each team, though, it will probably be the current jersey. With the authentic jersey (if you get it numbered and with a players name) they will make it exactly as the team wears.

The numbers that I have on my Petro shirt are the rubbery one's not sewn on, and the shirt is made by Champion.
