Looks like Porto will get 16M for Maniche and 4 M for Costinha.
Not a bad investment consider they were both free for Porto. Looks like Moscow is the new Algarve for the portuguese, though I doubt you'll see anyone topless there.

Marco - are you mad at the players for leaving, or the Russians for buying them?
On paper, it's a huge loss to the core of your infield, but you guys have a ton of cash to rebuild from scratch. Do you feel they should start over or do you think they only need a couple of key players/the right coach to win titles again?

Raxor, I think they spent a ton of it on buying Brazilians....
Fabiano was supposed to be the next best thing since sliced bread.... :rollani:

Those of us in North America, who follow teams with salary caps, are accustomed to hearing teams give you the company line when they get rid of players.
"We had to do it because of money."
But I have never understood why soccer fans excuse their teams for selling guys for money. They aren't cutting any of us dividend checks or lowering ticket prices no matter how large the profit margin grows.
As it stands, Porto will start next season with possibly only Baia and Valente as starters of the CL team. That was only a year ago!

Marco is pissed because Maniche deserves to prove himself in a proper league, not freeze his nuts off in the snow for an extra few roubles per month.
At least that's what I think.
Either way, bye and thanks for everything, you'll always have your medals to remind you of your glory days.

Bingo.
Black eye for Portuguese football when one of their starters decides to play in an inferior league to a team that is (by all the reports I'm reading) at the bottom of the table.
He'll always have his CL medals.
I hope he fails.

Marco I know your a fan of FC Porto, but why be pissed at Maniche or Costinha ftm. FC Porto pulled the plug on these two and dealt em to Dy Moscow, for a pretty decent sum of cash. Who's gonna turn down 20 mil?
I'm sure FC Porto looked at offers from European teams in la liga, epl, serie a, bundesliga, championnet, and the dutch league. Lets face it, thats a lot of scatch for 1 player (Costinha) past his prime, and Maniche, who's in the twilight of it.
At any rate, FC Porto have a good crop of youngsters, Raul Meireles, Bosingwa, Paulo Machado, Lucho, Ibson, Marcio Sousa, Gama, who should be able to step up and contribute. Not to mention 20 mil to invest in the team.
As for Maniche and Costinha, they are taking a step back, and there NT chances will be hurt a little, playing off the radar of Scolari, in the Russian league. Scolari who lives in Portugal, will surely, cast his eyes on players closer to home (M. Fernandes, Custodio, Tiago Mendes)

Just to add:
If FC Porto aren't back on top of their domestic league and international competition, its management should all be fired.
The amount of money they made the last three seasons is sickening.
- UEFA CUP champs (10 million?) est.
- Champions League Champs (16 million?) est.
- Champions League quarterfinalists (5 million?) est.
- Mourinho sold for 5 million euros to Chelsea (compensation)
- Alientchiev sold for 1 million euros to some russian club
- Deco sold for 10 million to Barca + reacquired Quaresma (10 million est.)
- Paulo Ferreira - 20 million euros
- Ricardo Carvalho - 25 million euros
- Derlei - 12 million euros?
- Carlos Alberto - 8 million euros?
- Maniche - 16 million euros
- Costinha - 4 million euros
(I'm probably missing someone or something else)
Any way, that is some crazy ass cash.
That's about 145 million euro dollars (135 million + Quaresma (10 million)) in money UEFA/Champs League play and the selling of their players/managers. That 145 mil is in the 2.5/3 years alone.
IF FC Porto can't use that money properly and build a winner soon again, the president and his henchmen should all be canned.
They may as well sell Nuno Valente - to capitalize.
And, Fabiano is a bag, sell him to some BRazilian outfit.

It's not about the money. It's about prestige. Money for Porto these days is a non-factor. I saw on Maisfutebol that we received well over 50 % of all revenues generate by all SuperLiga clubs last year. Hell, Benfica and Sporting combined were roughly at at 60% of Porto's revenues.

I know it's an old thread but... :dontkn:
I'm actually surprised Maniche still brought us as much money as he did after our dismal season. Even if he was one of our "better" players. However, 4m for Costinha is about right. Perhaps a little more for his experience.
Both are without a doubt IMO great players and I appreciate all they have done for Porto but don't think we would have had a better opportunity to sell them at those prices now.
I have to agree with Marco and King regarding the league/team that they’re going to but could be worse.
Now to fill the void these two leave in midfield. :abduct:

Just saw this thread.
Costinha is understandable, he's not that young anymore, but Maniche...well it's a shame. Not to say he can't still prove himself, but it would've been nice to see him have the opportunity in one of the three big leagues.

If I were a player, I think I'd like to play in a league with global exposure, not in the backwaters of European football. Sure the money is nice, but when it comes to millions what's the difference, between 12 million, and 15 million. It's nothing really. I think that Maniche and every other player that made that move, has really hurt his chance of playing the NT. Real stupid move considering that the WC is right around the corner.

This stupid cockmonkey now wants out of Dinamo Moscow. Like I said, I never had a problem with him leaving FC Porto and I would have accepted less money from an EPL, La Liga team for this guy but he showed that he's a true pussy in selecting a backwater team in a backwater league.
